LCBO workers on strike

FERGUS – Thousands of LCBO workers across the province – members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union – walked off the job on July 5. Here workers at the Fergus LCBO on St. David Street waved at passing vehicles and cheered when they received horn honks on July 8. The union is concerned with Premier Doug Ford’s plan to expand the sale of beer, wine and ready-to-drink cocktails to convenience stores and all grocery stores by Labour Day and fears job losses and fewer full-time positions as a result. LCBO retail locations are expected to stay closed for at least 14 days.
