The Group of Seven Film Festival & Wine Tasting, hosted by the Belfountain Heritage Society, concludes Feb. 25, with the screening of, "Where the Universe Sings – The Spiritual Journey of Lawren Harris".
Following the screening of this new release film, Lorraine Matheson of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection will speak about the Group of Seven co-founder and leader, and share highlights of the Lawren Harris exhibit at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, part of the gallery's 50th Anniversary celebrations.
The evening kicks off at 7pm with a wine tasting reception featuring the McMichael Collection Group of Seven wines at the Centre 2000 Theatre, 14 Boland Drive, Erin.
The Belfountain Heritage Society is organized the Group of Seven Film Festival to bring to prominence the many works of Canada's most iconic artists painted locally as part of their activities to mark Canada's 150th birthday. Proceeds benefit arts and culture in the area such as the 4th Annual Belfountain Music Festival and the historic Melville White Church, built by Erin founder, Daniel McMillan, in 1837. With the loss of the Mundell Lumber Mill, the timber frame church is the oldest remaining structure in the area constructed by the McMillan brothers 180 years ago.
