ELORA – Centre Wellington will again receive over $800,000 in its latest payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for hosting Elements Casino Grand River in Elora.
On Oct. 19 the OLG announced the township’s second quarter (July to Sept. 30) payment of $809,714.
That is similar to its first quarter payment of $805,770 but up significantly over previous payments, which were impacted by the COVID-19 public health restrictions.
Since the Elora slots facility opened in 2003, Centre Wellington has received $37,715,818 from the OLG.
Payments to host communities “are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site,” OLG officials state.
“OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic recovery, infrastructure development and job creation.
“Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario – 100 per cent of OLG’s profits are reinvested in the province.”
