Laptops coming for town councillors?

Town councillors will once again consider the possibility of purchasing laptop computers.

Mayor Lou Maieron brought up the topic recently and asked for input from councillors.

Both Josie Wintersinger and Deb Callaghan said they would prefer laptops and electronic agendas over the current paper format.

Councillor Barb Tocher, however, suggested the matter be deferred until budget discussions. She noted council has in the past discussed the purchase of laptops, but often other items are more important.

Councillor John Brennan agreed it is a discussion that should take place at budget time.

Maieron said he never wanted council to decide immediately. Noting councillors seemed to be in favour of the move, he added council will discuss the matter when it considers the 2011 budget.
