Land sale requires construction to be kept in Wellington North

Strange as it may seem, a sale of property in West Grey Township is a good thing for Wellington North.
On Monday, council passed a bylaw authorizing the sale of 7.5 acres of industrial land to Techno Steel Ltd.
The land is for an addition to property already purchased in Wellington North along Mount Forest’s Industrial Road.
The strange part is that while Wellington North may hold the deed to the industrial property, the land now being sold is located within the  municipal boundaries of West Grey.
Wellington North had previously invested in industrial land in West Grey to compliment the industrial area at the northern boundary of Mount Forest.
As a result, the purchase means the Techno Steel property will lie within two municipalities (and two counties – Wellington and Grey).
Chief Administrative Officer Lori Heinbuch noted the sale requires the main building (estimated at 2,000 square metres) to be in the property boundaries located within Wellington North, near Industrial Drive.
The company creates insulated metal panels that are used in the construction of foundations for buildings.
Mayor Mike Broomhead said the company creates materials used in some fairly big buildings and the company plans to be able to employ up to 200 people within the next two years.
Broomhead believes the additional land is required because there are sizable storage needs for the materials being  used and for the finished product.
Broomhead added that a site plan agreement is still in the works and that his township will also be including West Grey council in those discussions.
