Lacroix to replace Vandervaart at Scottish Festival

FERGUS – Shortly after an announcement that Charles Vandervaart, star of Outlander, would attend the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games, Vandervaart announced he wouldn’t be able to make it.

Not a week later and the festival has filled the spot.

Duncan Lacroix, who plays Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser in Outlander, will attend as a featured guest alongside Maria Doyle Kennedy, who plays Aunt Jocasta Cameron.

“We are thrilled that this has all worked out for the best,” states festival executive director Elizabeth Bender in a press release.

“We are no strangers to flying by the seat of our kilts at the festival and know that in the event world, best laid plans can change in an instant.”

Lacroix and Doyle Kennedy’s characters are in an endearing relationship.

“In 2022, Duncan Lacroix was our featured guest and was a huge hit with our guests. We are incredibly happy to have him back and know that with all the amazing events we have planned, it is going to be a great year,” Bender added.

There will be opportunities to meet both guests up close at the scheduled featured events, and they will participate in activities throughout the festival grounds all weekend.

The full schedule is available online at fergusscottishfestival.com, and ticket sales for the scheduled featured guest events with Maria Doyle Kennedy and Duncan Lacroix will resume on June 17 at 10am.
