GUELPH – It’s kitten season, and this week the Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is partnering with PetSmart Charities of Canada to offer same-day adoptions in honour of the 25th anniversary of National Adoption Week, from July 15 to 21.
“In working together with PetSmart, we aim to reduce time in shelter for cats and kittens and create as many new families as possible,” GHS executive director Lisa Veit said in a news release. “This week we have more than 30 kittens, plus several adult cats, available for adoption at the event.”
During the adoption event, staff and volunteers will be on hand at the PetSmart location at 183 Silvercreek Pkwy. N. to help potential adopters interact with the felines and choose one to take home.
Adoptable pets will be available for same-day adoption on July 18 from 4 to 6pm, July 19 from 4 to 8pm, and July 20 and 21 from 11am to 5pm.
Adoption fees at the event are $300 for kittens and $225 for adult cats, and GHS staff say all animals come “fully vetted,” vaccinated, and spayed or neutered.
