What would the Kissing Bridge Trailway be without the Kissing Bridge? Just a trailway?
The bridge, also known as the West Montrose covered bridge turned 130 years old this year.
It is one of the unique structures in the area and the only one of its kind in Ontario.
Everyone is invited to the 130th anniversary Kissing Bridge gala. With a contribution of $75 person, guests will attend that event on Nov. 5.
The evening will include a variety of entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, $3,000 in prizes (a $5 lighting raffle) and a cash bar.
To reserve a seat or get more information email events@bridgkeepers.ca.
Trail organizers are hoping to raise $30,000 which will be directly spent on trail improvements spanning the entire 45km of naturalized trail system.
One day the group hopes to be able to open the trail all the way to Lake Huron.
It already has support of the Huron and Perth County.
The group is looking for volunteers to help organize a Spring on the Trail feature event, captain a community check point or even volunteer for the steering committee. Email organizers at admin@springonthetrail.ca.
