Kenilworth resident wins Ontario Miss Mid West title

A Wellington North resident won the crown at the 2018-19 Ontario Miss Mid West pageant held in Walkerton on July 14.

The 2018-19 Ontario Miss Mid West Queen is Rachel Smyth, 19, daughter of Victoria Smyth of Kenilworth. She was sponsored by the Arthur Agricultural Society.

First runner up in the competition was Priyanka Kalra sponsored by Kincardine Agricultural Society.

Miss Congeniality Natalie Nixon was sponsored by Durham Agricultural Society.

The 2018-19 Ontario Little Miss Princess is Daphne Mannerow, 11-year-old daughter of Matthew Mannerow and Jennifer Webber of Hanover. She was sponsored by Hanover Bentnick Brant agricultural society.

Little Miss Princess first runner up was Shayla Glazema, who was sponsored by Harriston-Minto Agricultural Society.

Little Miss Friendship

The Little Miss Friendship award went to Cassie Ward from Palmerston Agricultural Society.

The Jordan Lynn Fawcett award recipient was Gabreille Gowing of Mildmay. She was sponsored by Bill Brown Tax Service.

A cheque for over $7,000 was presented to the Waterloo-Wellington-Dufferin Victorian Order of Nurses from fundraising done by 2017-18 Ontario Miss Mid West Queen Allyson Iles during term.

Pageant president Barb MacArthur and pageant assistant Disa MacArthur stated they were pleased with the evening and congratulated all contestants.

Next year’s pageant will be the 25th anniversary of the competition.
