GUELPH – Kaleidoscope Music Guelph will present their singer-songwriter showcase featuring Toronto artist John Borra and Canadian American artist Lorraine Leckie Nov. 22.
Canadian musician based in New York City, Leckie started writing poetry at a young age but didn’t pick up a guitar until her late thirties.
She began performing solo or with her band, Lorraine Leckie & Her Demons, and soon became known in some of New York’s most noted venues such as Mercury Lounge and Bowery Ballroom.
Leckie is a “no-nonsense singer-songwriter whose music combines honest, heartfelt poetry with beautiful, simple melodies, all performed with an attitude that’s hard as nails and barely concealing of an aching vulnerability just below the surface”, claim officials.
John Borra released his critically acclaimed Blue Wine in 2020 followed by Cassettes in Common in 2022.
The latter is a tribute to fellow singer-songwriters such as Ron Sexmith, Frank Nevada, Kyp Harness, Bob Snyder and Sam Larkin, all originally released on cassette tapes.
Doors open at 7pm with the show beginning at 8pm at 1Wyndham St. N, Guelph. Tickets are $20 with limited quantity and can be found online at Eventbrite.ca
