K. Trevor Wilson comedy tour coming to Fergus

Canadian Comedy’s 2015 best male stand-up comedian is coming to Fergus.

K. Trevor Wilson, a lead actor in the Crave TV show Letterkenny, will bring his Sex, Drugs and Comedy tour to the Goofie Newfie on Aug. 26.

“I’m a storyteller and long form joke guy with a deep soothing voice,” Wilson said in an email interview. “It’s like part comedy show, part relaxation tape.”

Wilson is re-launching the Sex, Drugs and Comedy tour with his two friends and fellow comedians Ryan Dennee and Bryan O’Gorman.

“The first tour was a bit over eight years ago, since then we’ve done shows together but haven’t had the same chance to hang out like we used to,” Wilson said. “This tour is as much about friends getting to goof around as it is a comedy tour.”

Wilson describes the show as, “a no holds barred stand-up show delivered by three of Canada’s best working acts.”

Scorpion Entertainment promoter Greg Manley said he wanted to introduce the Fergus and Elora area to new shows.

“There’s a lot of talented bands that tour in and around the Fergus/Elora area so this is just a different type of entertainment,” Manley said.

“Since I’ve been back in town for four years it’s very rare … that there is any type of comedy acts especially stand-up comedians.

“For the cheap price of $10 to see the three top class comedians … locally is pretty good.”

Wilson began his career as a child actor in shows like Goosebumps, studied theatre at the Etobicoke School of the Arts and studied comedy writing and performance at Humber College – that’s when he got into stand-up comedy.

“(I’ve) always had a love for comedy and stand-up has always felt like the purest form of comedy performance,” Wilson said. “You’re the writer, director, performer – it’s all on you.”

Now Wilson is also staring in Letterkenny, which he describes as “a show about a fictional small town in Ontario and the hicks, skids and hockey players that live there.”

His character, Dan, is a farmer and one of the hicks in the show.

“He’s a fun character, I like the use of malapropisms for comedic effect,” Wilson said. “Also, it’s a great show with a great cast that I’m thrilled to be a part of.”

Wilson did say there was a connection between Letterkenny and his Sex, Drugs and Comedy show.

“They are funny, Canadian and I’m in them,” he said.

“Will you be seeing Letterkenny live? No. But I was named the best male stand-up in Canada last year so it’ll be a good show.”

The tickets are $10 for the Aug. 26 show at the Goofie Newfie. The doors will open at 6pm and the show will start between 7 and 7:30pm.

Tickets can be purchased at the Goofie Newfie or by calling Greg Manley at 519-731-4966, he will deliver within the Fergus and Elora area.
