A Minto resident will once again wear the Ontario Miss-Midwest Crown.
The Ontario Miss Mid West and Little Miss Princess pageant was held July 9 at the Walkerton Knights of Columbus Hall with 27 girls competing.
Jorden Scholten of Harriston was the winner of the Miss Midwest title, while Amber Johnson of Palmerston was the runner up.
Jaylynn Howard of Hanover won in the Little Miss Princess category, while Hannah Des Jarden of Palmerston was named Little Miss Friendship.
Scholten, 19, sponsored by Harriston Agricultural Society, is the daughter of Jason and Jackie Scholten.
She will to atttend the University of Guelph in the fall and is planning a career as a marine bioligist.
Each year, the pageant winner chooses a charity to raise funds for and Scholten has selected Get In Touch For Hutch.
The 2015-16 Ontario Miss Mid West Queen Tiffany Lenselink of Palmerston learned at the July 9 event of the final totals for her fundraising efforts during her term.
Lenselink raised funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities Hamilton. Her six year old cousin Nolan Melchin passed away in 2013 from a pediatric brain tumour and his family was able to spend his final days with him thanks to the charity.
Lensink raised $30,179, well beyond her initial goal of $6,000. The funds were presented at the pageant to Ronald McDonald House Charities representative Deanna Skwarka.
Barb MacArthur president of the pageant and pageant assistant Disa Jamara MacArthur stated in a press release that all contestants did an amazing job and should be very proud of their presentation at the pageant.
