CENTRE WELLINGTON – Pastor Peter Bush and his wife Debbie Bush were the only people who turned up for a prayer vigil at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church to mark International Day of Peace on Sept. 21. But the pastor’s message bears consideration: 42,000 people are dead in Gaza because of the conflict there and that’s close to the size of Centre Wellington. In any country where there’s war – Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, Myanmar – “It’s adults fighting adults and children are caught in the crosshairs,” he said. “For some children in the world, their only experience is war.”
