Halwell Mutual Insurance Company representatives were in town last week to present $3,000 to four Wellington County Fire departments to help with maintenance of the new fire and life safety training trailer shared by the departments.
The cheque presentation was part of a five-year commitment by Halwell to donate $15,000 towards the maintenance of the mobile educational centre.
Fire departments in Centre Wellington, Arthur, Mapleton, and Erin purchased the information trailer to assist in education of school children and the public regarding numerous home safety issues.
Halwell Mutual Insurance Company appreciated the efforts by the four departments to raise awareness about fire and home safety.
The unit will visit local schools and will also be displayed at various community events, including fall fairs and the Fergus Truck Show.
Halwell Mutual is owned by local policy holders and represented by various independent insurance brokers.
