Inspiration Not Far From Home exhibit open at Minto Arts Gallery

HARRISTON – An exhibition dubbed Inspiration Not Far From Home is on display until March 28 at the Minto Arts Gallery, located on the third floor of the Harriston Library.

Presented by the Minto Arts Council, the show features the work of Hanover artist Bev Morgan.

Primarily a watercolour artist, Morgan also teaches plein aire painting while travelling abroad. Her work is based upon drawings from art journals, photos, observation and imagination.

“Her watercolour approach varies with each reference. It is the effect of light that she is after. Light can make even the humblest subject beautiful,” Minto Arts Council officials state.

“Her hope is that anyone who views her paintings can experience the excitement and vision that she had while creating them.”

As a full-time artist, Morgan teaches workshops in her home studio, at local libraries, art conventions, Southampton Art School, and on work holidays on cruise ships.

Her interest in the visual arts began early but was always put aside as she juggled two careers, balancing art, workshops and hospital employment as a medical laboratory technologist.

Morgan is among the founding members of local artist group “Saugeen Artists” created in 2006. The group has evolved from five to 36 members.

The exhibit, which opened March 5, runs until March 28.
