Curry in a flurry – The Centre Wellington Food Bank was a beehive of activity on Oct. 23 with Elora Centre for the Arts representatives cooking 200 meals for the Indian Food Fundraiser. The food bank offered their kitchen facilities for preparing the food while others like Thatcher Farms, Dar’s Foods, Gerrie’s Nursery, Fraeberts and Freshco donated all the food. This was the first year for Indian Food Fundraiser and organizers expect to raise over $4,000 for the Elora Centre for the Arts.
Preparing 40 pounds of potatoes from left are: arts centre board member Deepti Celetti, volunteer Kathy Mayo, arts centre co-chair Sheila Koop and volunteer Nancy Fisher. Other members are Darleen Doughan and Sue MacPhedran. Once all the meals were cooked and plated, Edge Reality representatives, led by Melissa Seagrove, donated their time to deliver all 200 meals to residences on Oct. 23.
Some of the spices that went into the meals were ground cumin, coriander, ground cardimin, curry powder, tumerick, mango powder, hjwan, and of course chili powder and mustard seed.
