ERIN - Michael Dehn, who came within 210 votes of knocking off Allan Alls in the recent election for Erin mayor, has been appointed president and CEO of a mining company.

Over 300 people came out to honour the fallen at Erin’s remembrance ceremony, including Second World War veteran Bill Mundell, right. The service featured the 242 Air Cadet Squadron, a colour party led by Branch 442 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and wreaths laid by Mayor Allan Alls, below left, and others. There was also a purple poppy tribute, below, to animals of war (horses who hauled supplies and guns; dogs who were messengers, sentries and scouts; and pigeons who delivered messages under fire).

ABOYNE - The 200th anniversary of the land purchase and survey that opened up Erin Township to European settlers is being recognized with an exhibit at the Wellington County Museum and Archives. All Roads Lead to Erin is a collection of photographs, historical notes and artifacts, including the surveyor’s chain used between 1818 and 1821, that explores the role of transportation in the growth of the Town of Erin,

Drew Ferguson, 6, of Fergus, was the first to ring the bell at All Saints Church in Erin at the Bells of Peace ceremony on Nov. 11. He is the great-grandson of Erin flight lieutenant Ross Ferguson (1923-2003), who earned the Distinguished Flying Cross in WWII.
