For the second year, the Power Savings Blitz has given small business owners the opportunity to save electricity and cut operating costs.
The program provides a free energy assessment and up to $1,000 for an efficiency retrofit for small businesses. So far 19 businesses in Fergus and Elora participated, and interest grows, said Centre Wellington Hydro General Manager Doug Sherwood. The utility conducted nearly 200 visits to local businesses in July.
Sherwood said business owners are often skeptical about the Power Savings Blitz – the no-strings-attached $1,000 incentive almost seems too good to be true.
Businesses can qualify for the incentive once per hydro account every calendar year. To learn more about the program, or to schedule an assessment call 1-877-662-5489 or email powersavingsblitz@enerspectrum.com.
Commercial, institutional, agricultural, and industrial customers can receive funding from the Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP).

For landlords and property managers, the multifamily energy efficiency rebates (MEER) program provides incentives for energy retrofits to apartment buildings. Visit www.meerontario.ca.
Centre Wellington Hydro invites comments and questions about any of these initiatives. To do that, telephone 519-843-2900 or email enquiries@cwhydro.ca or visit www.cwhydro.ca.
Sherwood said people can look for weekly conservation tips in the Wellington Advertiser, and he offered a special thanks to Erich Ledwinka, of Elora, for his input and comments on the various hydro programs and initiatives.
