Hunter and Doe, two of Canada’s most versatile performers, organizers state, come together on Sept. 16 at the Fergus Grand Theatre.
Ottawa-born Stephanie Cadman, a world renowned tap/step-dancer and a fierce fiddler and Manitoba’s Jeremy Walmsley a multi instrumentalist and a high tenor, met while performing in the Grammy and Tony award winning Mirvish production of Once the musical in Toronto.
Coming from two different worlds of music – Cadman holding a deep passion for Celtic folk and Walmsley’s flavour of soul, jazz, pop – Hunter and Doe was formed.
Cadman also maintains a busy touring schedule as a Canadian Folk Award nominated solo musician and as a member of the all-female country trio Belle Starr.
In addition to numerous other projects she returned this summer as an instructor at the Leahy Music Camp and is widely recognized as one of Canada’s top violinists, organizers state.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Walmsley is involved in a number of musical projects including as lead singer and guitarist for the jazz/pop/soul group, The Jeremey Walmsley Trio and he is becoming widely recognized as one of the most talented new pop-jazz, funk, soul singers in Toronto, organizers say.
The percussive guitar playing and vocal agility from Walmsley combined with Cadman’s fierce, rhythmical footwork and her dynamic fiddle playing make for an explosive duet that is breaking musical boundaries and giving birth to a new, electric, fusion of sound. A free dance workshop will be offered in the afternoon for all levels.
Discounted concert tickets are being offered to youth and workshop participants. Visit www.weealec.com to register or call Scott Moir 519-820-4430.
