Wellington OPP report they have been receiving numerous complaints from property owners that hunters are trespassing.
In a recent press release, police stressed to hunters that they must have permission to be on the land on which they plan to hunt.
A hunting licence does not give a hunter the right to enter private property, they note, and hunters must have permission to enter private land, even if the intent is just to cross the private land to reach public land.
It’s almost surprising that police have to remind people of such requirements, which really come down to both common courtesy and common sense.
Hunting safely and respectfully should be automatic.
