Hundreds grab their pasSports to celebrate Centre Wellington Culture Days

Last weekend, local residents were encouraged to be the ultimate hometown tourist and spend the weekend on a trip around Centre Wellington with a Culture Passport in celebration of Culture Days.

Elora-Fergus Tourism has announced that this year’s second annual Culture Days celebration was a huge success.

Culture Days is a national movement that aims to foster an appreciation for cultural life by promoting direct interaction between creators and the public.

Local Culture Days coordinator Elizabeth Bender said, “This year’s passport event was really amazing with such a diversity of events that truly showcased how culturally rich this community is.”

Bender noted hundreds turned out at the various “passport stops,” enjoying events and activities and getting their pasSports stamped. The three-day event featured 29 stops with participation and contributions from approximately 30 cultural groups and organizations.

In addition to returning favourites, several groups and activities made their passport debut, including One Axe Pursuits with their Elora SkyRider Zipline; Vision Theatre Productions, which welcomed passport holders into their rehearsal space and right onto the set of Mash; a martial arts demonstration with Moynihan Family Martial Arts; and the Highland Rugby Sevens Tournament.
