Rosslyn Bentley has been named the executive director of Hospice Wellington.
The board of directors announce that appointment and she will take on her new role effective March 8.
“Rosslyn joins Hospice Wellington at a significant time as we move towards the opening of our residential facility, the development of the hospice palliative care network, and the building of partnerships to better serve our community.” said board chairman Jim MacKenzie.
He said, “When the search started the board was seeking an individual to lead the development of a centre of expertise in palliative care with the new residential hospice, strong community programs and links to health care experts in the field of palliative care. Rosslyn, with more than 23 years experience in health care management … brings a commitment to the philosophy of end-of-life care and will be a great asset and leader in the organization.”
Bentley is recognized as an innovative leader in the Waterloo Wellington area and at the provincial level. She has been a director of healthcare services at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care and the Wellington-Dufferin Community Care Access Centre. During the past three years she founded the Upper Grand Family Health Team in Fergus, and developed a team of primary care health professionals serving more than 26,000 patients.
“We anticipate that the building of the residential Hospice will raise our profile in the community,” said MacKenzie. “With a new leader in place we are keen to move forward and we welcome volunteers and donations to support our expanding operations. We are very excited with our investment in the residential development.”
Bentley will lead a small team of staff and more than 250 trained volunteers. With the launch of the residential Hospice, due to open in June, there will be an intensive recruitment of new staff and volunteers, as well as commissioning the new building at 795 Scottsdale Road in Guelph.
