Horse Heritage Awards to be announced at the 2021 Erin Fair

ERIN – The Erin Agricultural Society is calling for submissions for the 2020 (put on hold due to COVID-19) and 2021 Horse Heritage Hall of Fame awards.

If you know of a person, organization, stable or horse who has contributed in a significant way to the horse culture in Erin, the Erin Agricultural Society would like to hear about it.

The categories include:

– Equine (Horse) Community Contribution/Mentorship (youth and others);

– Breed Development;

– Equine Industry Leadership; and

– Significant Lifetime Achievement (person or horse).

Entries should be limited to one page (500 words) and, if possible, include a photo. Submissions should tell the society about the nominee, including why and how they’ve contributed to Erin’s horse heritage.

Typewritten or hand-written submissions welcome. The nominee must have lived within the Town of Erin or has participated in significant horse activity within the Erin community.

The deadline for submission is Sept. 17. Submissions can be emailed to secretary@erinfair.com, or dropped off at the Erin Fair office, 190 Main St. Erin. For any questions call 519-833-2808 or text 519-216-4562.

Winners will be presented with their award at the 2021 Erin Fair, the morning of Oct. 9 in the Agriculture Awareness Tent.

The Erin Agricultural Society established the Horse Heritage Hall of Fame in 2018 to celebrate Erin’s rich equine history and to recognize leaders within Erin’s horse community.

The Hall of Fame awards is now an annual event, with winners being announced each year at the Erin Fair.
