Hopscotch event one step closer to reality

Locals who want to be part of a world record should mark Oct. 1 on their calendars.
On that date, the Step Up 4 Change group will attempt to set the world record for the longest hopscotch course while raising funds for Free the Children and for Right to Play.
Guelph-Eramosa council last week granted official approval to the Hopscotch for Hope event in Eden Mills.
It will be part of the Step Up 4 Change fundraising campaign, which was started this year by local girls Kory Melnick, 13, Robin Melnick, 11, and Kamari Brown Gain, 13.
The hopscotch route, which will be drawn on the road the day before the event, will start at the ball park and take place along Indian Trail and Memorial, Wilson, Ash, York and Barden Streets.
