GUELPH – Wounded Warriors Canada is leading the National Ride for Mental Health on the grounds of the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph.
The ride, slated for Aug. 19, is an inclusive, non-competitive, community-focused cycling event fostering mental health conversations and raising much-needed funds in support of mental health services for first responders, military and their family members.
Homewood Health is a national partner for the 2023 event and employees will be leading live events at Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, as well as Homewood Ravensview on Vancouver Island.
There will be three rides kicking off at Guelph: a 100km ride, 50 km ride, and a family-friendly 5-10km ride.
Cyclists are to arrive at 8:30am and at 8:45am there will be opening remarks by Homewood’s president and chief of staff Dr. Carlos Lalonde, Wounded Warriors Canada director of mental health services Phil Ralph, and Guelph councillor Leanne Caron, who will kick off the 100km ride at 9am; the 50km and 5km rides begin at 9:15am.
Cyclists are expected to return to Homewood by 1pm.
The Ride for Mental Health is led by Wounded Warriors Canada, a nationally recognized organization and mental health service provider dedicated to serving ill and injured trauma exposed professionals.
In 2022, Homewood Health and Wounded Warriors Canada formalized a partnership to further prioritize mental health care support for Canada’s veterans, first responders, and their families.
This partnership is aimed at building connections in four key areas: knowledge and training, service delivery and access, education and awareness, and additional collaborative initiatives.
The 2022 Ride for Mental Health saw 55 teams across Canada, 2,314 donors, 170 cities, and a new national fundraising record of $425,000.
