HOLSTEIN – This village’s unique non-motorized Christmas parade returns on Dec. 11.
The parade will start at 123273 Southgate Road 12 (The Holstein Depot) and will end at 392141 Grey Road 109 (Egremont Community School).
Main Street will be closed at around 12:30pm so participants are advised to be at the Holstein Depot no later than noon. Spectators should be parked no later than 12:30pm
Firefighters from Dundalk and Mount Forest Fire will be assisting with road control.
Organizers advise spectators parked facing north will not be able to move until the parade has made a return back down the main street.
“Please be patient and respectful of their safe return back to the depot,” organizers urge.
To register to participate email holsteinsantaclausparade@outlook.com and provide name, address, phone number and email address along with who’s participating and what animals are attending.
Organizers are hoping to have a meet and greet with Santa after the parade at the Egremont Optimist building (beside Egremont Community School), which will be held outside, weather permitting.
Organizers are looking forward to this year’s event, as the 2020 parade had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are very happy to be back and running this year after sadly taking last year off due to COVID,” said organizing committee member Amanda Boychuk Bender. “Our number of registrations so far for this year is excellent, with more coming in each day.”
