The holiday season here starts with Guelph Civic Museum’s Festive Family Day Dec. 1, from 1 to 4:30pm.
Guests for the afternoon include local storyteller Brad Woods, who entertains at 2pm, educators and their wild bird friends from Wildlife Education and Environmental Programs, who provide information throughout the afternoon on how birds adapt to cold weather. Santa Claus will make a special appearance at 2:45pm.
Staff and volunteers are decorating, creating crafts, and developing activities for the annual event.
Activities include the opening of a display featuring gift givers from around the world.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors can explore the museum, help decorate a Christmas tree, write a letter to Santa, and participate in hands-on activities found all over the museum.
Following the event, staff invite everyone to take in the festivities at the annual Winter Lights and Music in downtown Guelph. Staff and volunteers will be out once again selling candles .
Gift Givers From Around the World continues through the holidays. Guelph Civic Museum will be open from Dec. 27 to 30 and closed Dec. 24 to 26, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
The museum is located at 6 Dublin Street South, McCrae House at 108 Water Street. Hours are daily 1 to 5pm.
