EDEN MILLS – Juno Award-winning folk singer Valdy will perform in Eden Mills this weekend.
Described in a news release as “one of Canada’s most renowned folk singers,” Valdy will take to the stage at the Eden Mills Community Hall, 104 York St., on Nov. 2 at 7pm.
His performance is part of a national tour that is taking him from Newfoundland to British Columbia.
Born in Ottawa as Paul-Valdemar Horsdal, Valdy has had a career as a singer-songwriter and guitarist that has spanned more than 50 years, taking him around the world.
He is especially remembered for Play Me a Rock and Roll Song, his bitter-sweet memory of finding himself – a relaxed and amiable story-teller – playing for a rambunctious audience at the Aldergrove Rock Festival in the 1960s, the release stated.
His songs include A Good Song, Peter and Lou, Yes I Can and Renaissance.
His recent albums include Contenders, a collaboration with friend and fellow singer-songwriter Gary Fjellgaard, and a solo release entitled Viva Valdy: Live at Last, a two-CD release featuring one live and one studio disc.
Valdy has two Juno Awards, seven Juno nominations, and four gold albums to his credit.
Music at the Hall programs and concerts at the Eden Mills Community Hall support the hall’s operations.
Doors open at 6:30pm for the 7pm show.
