Harvesting Hope breakfast returns to GrandWay Events Centre

ELORA – Harvesting Hope, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington’s (BBBSCW) annual fall fundraiser, is back.

Presented by Baker Tilly, this breakfast event, initially set for Oct. 4, has been changed  to Oct. 27 at the GrandWay Events Centre from 7:15 to 9am.

“We’re so excited to finally be able to present this event in the way we’ve always envisioned,” stated BBBSCW executive director Brad Mulligan in a press release.

He went on to explain that due to COVID-19, the event had to be significantly modified for the first two years.

“This year, our goal is to fill the room with inspiration and the opportunity to give hope to children and youth in our community, and to make sure attendees leave with a full stomach.”

During breakfast, attendees will hear about the direct impacts of mentoring from a panel of speakers and how as little as one hour a week can positively impact children and youth.

Victoria Sookram, the agency’s development coordinator, explained that the event has a couple of goals.

Connect with Community

“While the fundraising piece is incredibly important to help us reach our 2022 targets and keep our programs running, we also want to use this opportunity to connect with our community, familiarize them with our work and showcase some of the impacts of these life-changing mentoring relationships,” she said.

Tickets for Harvesting Hope are $60 and can be purchased through Big Brothers Big Sisters’ website at https://centrewellington.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/event/harvesting-hope or by phone at 519-787-0106 ext. 220.

To add to the fun, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a $10 ticket for the final five Big Split 26 (50-50) draws of 2022.  Jackpots for all these draws will be in excess of $750.

Additionally, for $5 (or three for $10) guests can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win either a $500 travel voucher from Via Rail, or a “Thanksgiving in a basket” prize featuring a bounty of gift certificates from local farms and shops along with a few other surprises.

“For those making a donation of $20 or more, we have a very special thank you in store,” said Sookram.

“Anyone who attended last year’s event can attest to the awesomeness of Ange’s famous pumpkin spiced and cream cheese filled muffins.

“This year we’re bringing it up a level and letting guests share the love when they return to the office.  With a $100 donation, attendees can pre-order a six-pack of muffins to bring back for their co-workers.”

“We would encourage you to make Harvesting Hope a new tradition and support children and youth in Centre Wellington,” the release states.
