Harvest Home Festival at museum on Sept. 24

It is harvest time in Wellington County and the Wellington County Museum and Archives is once again hosting the annual Harvest Home Festival.

Stop by to visit on Sept. 24 from 1 to 5pm for a full day of harvest time fun. Bring the sheaves in with a vintage threshing bee featuring historic threshing machines and classic tractors.

The sound of hammers and shears will be ringing all over the site with demonstrations of blacksmithing and sheep shearing, along with live musical entertainment.

There will also be fresh produce available for purchase at the local Taste Real Farmers’ Market, and pies from Melville United Church.

Local 4-H members will also be here with a few of their farm animal friends.Visitors are invited to come explore the new interactive gallery which celebrates Wellington County 4-H’s 100th anniversary.

4-H has taught generations of children a variety of valuable skills from raising livestock, cultivating crops to public speaking.

Through fun hands-on displays, artifacts, photographs, audio and video components, learn about what 4-H means to the County. The exhibit is on display until May 6, 2018.

There will be a series of hands on skill building workshops, in association with Minga Skill Building Hub.
