HARRISTON – The 2023 Harriston-Minto Ambassador of the Fair Competition will feature seven competitors for the junior ambassador title and three in the senior category.
The competition will be held on July 8 at the Harriston-Minto Community Centre Auditorium.
Doors open at 1:30pm and the competition begins at 2pm. Admission is by donation.
Senior competitors
Julia Gray is sponsored by Gray’s Auction. She is 19 years old and the daughter of Laura and Kevin Gray.
Julia is attending Conestoga College for a business degree, and is expected to graduate in 2024.
She danced, assisted and taught dance classes at the Minto Dance Academy in Harriston from 2006 to 2021. Her career goal is to find a career that she is passionate about.
Bella Hill is sponsored by the Harriston Kinsmen. She is 17 years old and the daughter Ryan and Kathy Hill.
Bella is attending Norwell District Secondary School in Grade 11.
She has been a coach for a Minto Minor Hockey team for the past two years and plans to continue coaching.
She has also coached figure skating and CanSkate with the Harriston Skating Club.
Bella shows a great interest towards the growth of kids in the community, especially in sports and education. Her career goal is to become an Early Childhood Educator (ECE).
Katelyn (Kate) Howlett is sponsored by the Town of Minto. She is 17 years old.
Kate is currently attending Norwell District Secondary School, and has plans to attend the University of Waterloo for mechanical engineering upon graduation next year.
She has experience volunteering with the local minor hockey league and teaching Sunday school. She also volunteers outside of the community by aiding the Mount Forest United Church. Her career goal is to work in designing and engineering agricultural equipment after finishing university.
Junior competitors
Sydney Jacques is sponsored by the Minto Optimist club. She is 12 and is the daughter of Christy Hostawrer and Jeff Jacques.
She is attending middle school at Minto Clifford Public School in Grade 6.
Sydney is a Harriston Skating Club program assistant, and is interested in Blooming Beauty Soaps. Her career goal is to become an entrepreneur.
Brynnlee (Brynn) Graham is sponsored by the Town of Minto. She is 10 years old and is the daughter of Belinda and Kyle Graham.
Brynn is attending primary school at Minto Clifford Public School in Grade 4 going into Grade 5.
She is a volunteer for CanSkate and is a program assistant for the Harriston Skating Club. Brynn is interested in acro dance and decorating for Minto Pride. Her career goal is to become an astronaut.
Lexi Drummond is sponsored by Leslie Motors. She is 12 years old and is the daughter of Heather Hughes, Devar Drummond, and Marianne Vico. She is attending middle school at Minto Clifford Public School in Grade 6.
Lexi plays multiple sports within the community including skating and soccer. She also helps volunteering with the school’s special olympics and sports teams.
Her career goal is to become a lawyer.
Adelaide Foerster is sponsored by Foerster Plumbing and Heating. She is 11 years old and is the daughter of Ashley and Tyler Foerster. Adelaide is attending Minto Clifford Public School in Grade 6.
She enjoys volunteering in numerous ways including being on student council, a lunch helper and the special olympics.
Adelaide enjoys playing baseball, competing in swim team, and acting in theatre programs.
Her career goal is to become an actress or kindergarten teacher.
Paisley Foerster is sponsored by Speare Seeds. She is nine years old and is the daughter of Ashley and Tyler Foerster.
Paisley attends school at Minto Clifford Public School in Grade 4.
She enjoys making jewelry and art in her free time, as well as singing. Paisley enjoys swimming and participating in theatre programs.
Her career goal is to become a veterinarian and artist.
Abbygale Golley is sponsored by Harriston Home Hardware. She is 11 years old and is the daughter of Sara and Dustin Golley.
She attends middle school at Palmerston Public School.
Abbygale enjoys volunteering in any way she can including volunteering with the Teeswater Fair, being a lunch helper, being a member of student council and being a babysitter.
She enjoys an array of activities ranging from four wheeling and camping to swimming and horseback riding. Her career goal is to become either an education assistant or a therapist due to her enjoyment of working with kids.
Graham Blahut is sponsored by Harriston Legion Branch 296.
He is 10 years old and attends Minto Clifford Public School in Grade 5.
He loves playing and watching hockey, reading, LEGO and cooking.
He runs his own business called Graham’s Granola, which can be purchased at Minto Farmers Markets or via pre-order.
Graham has volunteered at the Harriston Street Party. His career goal is to become a teacher.
