HARRISTON – The Harriston Legion’s Catch the Ace committee has announced the local recipients of $30,000 in funds raised by its first Catch the Ace draw.
The draw began on Sept. 6, 2019 and, due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, ended when the Ace was found on Oct. 15, 2020. A total $30,000 was awarded to five different community organizations from the proceeds of the draw.
On Dec. 16, Branch 296 president Hugh Clunas presented cheques to:
– Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation, $10,000;
– Minto Mental Health (for the Integrated Youth Services Network initiative) $10,000;
– Cancer Patient Services, $5,000; and
– the Harriston and Clifford Food Banks, $2,500 each.
The committee thanked those who purchased tickets.
“We are proud to be part of such a generous community,” Legion Branch 296 officials stated. The Legion plans to continue with the Catch the Ace draw in the future.
