HARRISTON – The Harriston Kinsmen are celebrating 65 years as a club.
Kin Canada executive director Randy Sidhu said it’s incredible to think about the legacy built by the club over decades of serving the “community’s greatest need,” adding the hard work and dedication to the community isn’t going unnoticed.
“As someone who is following in his father’s footsteps as a member of the Kinsmen and a president of Kinsmen, I am so very proud of what our great group has been able to accomplish,” stated Harriston Kinsmen president Jeff Mock.
“Over the years the Kinsmen have been involved in many different projects, from the new arena build to starting, building and tiling the ball diamond.
“We have had a hand in building multiple parks and built a pool for the kids to use during the hot summers and moving forward we are always looking for new ideas and projects to help make our community a better place to bring your families.”
The Harriston Kinsmen have recently taken on a major project to revamp the grounds around the arena in town to make way for a new multi-use sports pad, with various events being put on by the club fundraising for the project.
The club continues its efforts for fundraising with a barbecue raffle with the draw quickly approaching on Sept. 21.
Each ticket carries the chance to win a Traeger smoker valued at $850, Blackstone Griddle valued at $650 and various denominations of Harriston Packers Gift Cards.
Tickets can be purchased for $10 each by contacting club members or messaging the Harriston Kinsmen on Facebook.
The club encourages people to come to the Harriston Curling Club on Sept. 28, starting at 1pm, as it hosts a second Cornhole Tournament in support of the Palmerston Hospital MRI Campaign.
Teams of two cost $75, with registration also including dinner.
