Harriston Horticultural Society learn about worm farming

MINTO – Members of the Harriston and District Horticultural Society learned about worm farming at their March 19 meeting.

Special speakers were Derk and Teresa Dekker from Moorefield and they gave a most interesting talk on ‘the unknown life of a worm farmer.’

Worm pickers picking on dairy farms at night, will pick between 10,000-12,000 worms per person per night.

The worms can be stored in strict conditions for many weeks, and are shipped all across Canada and Europe.

Locally you can find their product Country Bait at local convenience stores.

Harriston Hort will partner with the Arthur Horticultural Society on April 16 for a talk by Shaun Booth about re-defining four season interest with native plants.

This meeting is at 7:30 at the Harriston Train Station. Everyone is welcome!
