Hanlon Expressway blitz results

Wellington County OPP officers laid close to 40 charges during a recent enforcement blitz on along Highway 6 in Guelph and Puslinch Township.

The OPP conducted “focused patrols” from May 3 to 17 on the stretch of Highway 6 known as the Hanlon Expressway.

An OPP press release stated officers “predominately dedicated their education and enforcement efforts towards intersections looking for drivers failing to stop for red lights, improper turns, speeding and lane change violations.”

Police say a total of 32 officer hours were dedicated to the 14-day initiative, during which five vehicle collisions were reported, but no injuries were sustained. Officers issued 26 tickets for speeding, one for racing, two unlicensed drivers, two invalid permits, one fail to stop at a red light, one fail to yield on a red light, one unsafe start from a stopped position, one unsafe vehicle, one not displaying two plates and one fail to surrender insurance card.
