GUELPH – Through its Halwell Hope initiative, Halwell Mutual is donating $100,000 to charities in southwestern Ontario.
Local recipients include Guelph Black Heritage Society and Family and Children’s Services Guelph Wellington.
In a press release, president and CEO Marg Torrance states:
“It is an incredible honour to have the opportunity to give back to our communities and support our most vulnerable demographics in a year of new challenges and dramatic impact at the hand of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am humbled by the work, dedication, and achievements of our partner organizations.
“I am inspired and truly hopeful for a brighter 2021 for all those impacted and positively affected by the many programs enabled through our Halwell Hope campaign.”
The insurance company chose to support projects that focus on the health and welfare of families, food security, and social justice issues with a special focus on anti-racism efforts and education and equality efforts in support of the BIPOC communities.
