Habitat for Humanity seeking applicants for 32-unit stacked townhouses in Garafraxa Village build

FERGUS – Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington is building 32 stacked townhomes in Fergus and wants to fill all units.

Garafraxa Village, on Garafraxa Street in Fergus, is part of the organization’s efforts to provide safe and affordable housing to a growing community.

There will be 22 units for Habitat families and 10 market units.

Who qualifies?

Families may qualify for this program if they are living in unsafe, unsuitable, and/or unaffordable conditions.

Eligible families must be within the household income threshold (the combined income of all income earners) of $64,500 to $113,000.

Eligible families must further demonstrate responsible debt management, adequate funds for closing costs, and no current bankruptcies or consumer proposals.

For Habitat units, a two-mortgage model applies with the first mortgage provided by a conventional lender at market interest rates, and a second mortgage held by Habitat with no interest for 20 years.

Interested families can apply for Habitat for Humanity’s program by filling out an eligibility questionnaire, found at habitatgw.ca/apply.

Garafraxa Village offers a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom stacked townhome condominiums, and each is designed to offer spacious and practical layouts.

For anyone with accessibility needs, three-bedroom units are also available barrier-free.

On the market side, all units provide great options for the first-time buyer, or someone looking to downsize and age in place.
