Habitat for Humanity holding big fundraiser

Habitat Centre Wellington is holding a stormy fundraising event at the community centre here on March 30 from 7 to 11pm.

The evening of entertainment and fun is designed to benefit the 2012 Centre Wellington Build in Fergus that will provide housing for two families.

The keynote presentation is by George Kourounis, also known as the Storm Chaser, who is the host of the television program Angry Planet.

Organizers Barbara Lustgarten-Evoy said the event has two purposes: to raise awareness of the project set to take off this summer and to attract people who are willing to provide support for it.

She added the theme for the event is Shelter from the Storm. The evening will also include music by Cam Otto, appetizers from The Food School of Centre Wellington District High School, cake from Fancy That Cake, and a cash bar.

There will also be a silent auction. The goal is to make the current build in the township the most successful to date.

Seating is limited so organizers are urging people to book ahead.

Tickets are $50 per person and $40 of that will be covered by a tax receipt.

All funds raised will benefit the 2012 Centre Wellington build.
