GYMC presents annual free Medieval Festival for Family Day – sponsored by TD

The Guelph Youth Music Centre will be holding a Medieval Festival, KnightsFest on Feb. 20 from 10am to 3pm. It’s a family fun event with lots of activities for everyone to enjoy.

This is the second year of KnightsFest festival which will include displays, costumes, games, activities and entertainment, all to the theme of the Medieval era.

“Thanks to the generous support of TD, we’re so pleased to be able to present another year of KnightsFest – our medieval festival which will be fun for the whole family,” said Gabriella Currie-Ziegler, executive director of the GYMC in a press release.

“Blackthorn Productions will be returning again this year. They were a big hit last year and we’re pleased to be able to bring them back. Everyone loved the rubbings they created, so Medieval Brass Rubbings will also be with us again.

The day’s festivities include:

-display pavilions;

– replica weapons, armour and artifacts;

– king and queen presence;

– combat demonstrations;

– archery display;

– entertainment;

– jugglers;

– magician;

– roaming characters

– photo booth

– games, events  and activities;

– hit the knight

– Trebuchet

– children’s archery

– heraldry

– brass rubbings

“TD in Guelph is very proud to sponsor this event,” commented Rose Underhill, Woolwich Street TD branch manager. “We make it a priority to work with the community to engage children and youth in arts and music programming. Our goals align well with those of the Guelph Youth Music Centre.”

Established in 1992, the GYMC is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to education, enrichment and fostering the development of youth through music and the arts. The unique facility is an exciting cultural hub for children of all ages and backgrounds in the community.

Through a variety of programs, provision of space to partner organizations and outreach into the community, the GYMC enriches many lives.
