GYMC postpones 6th annual Medieval Festival

GUELPH – The Guelph Youth Music Centre has postponed its annual Medieval Festival, KnightsFest, which was planned for Feb. 21, to a later date in 2022.

The family fun event includes activities for everyone, including displays, costumes, games, activities and entertainment, all to the theme of the Medieval and Renaissance eras.

“We had planned to hold this very popular event on Family Day, however with closures and restrictions caused by the pandemic, it just isn’t possible,” said GYMC executive director Gabriella Currie-Ziegler.

Currie-Ziegler said to stay tuned as the centre plans to present Knightsfest this coming spring or summer.

“Thanks to the generous support of TD, we’re so happy to be able to continue KnightsFest, when so many other events in our community have been cancelled,” she said.

“The professional troupe, Blackthorn Productions, will be returning to be our guides through the Medieval and Renaissance eras,” she added.

“They will interact with attendees through music, costumed demonstrations, interactive games and activities, armour workshops and brass rubbings. What better way to celebrate, learn and have a great time.”

Sponsored by TD Bank Group, the event is free. For more information call 519-837-1119 or visit gymc.ca.
