GUELPH – Experience authentic American blues with Guy Davis in the River Run Centre’s Studio Theatre on Feb. 22 at 8pm.
The performance is part of the Borealis Music Series, featuring a lineup of singers, songwriters and storytellers.
Guy Davis is a musician, actor, author and songwriter. He is a two-time Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues Album for Be Ready When I Call You in 2021 and Sonny and Brownie’s Last Train in 2017.
With a background in theatre, he uses a blend of roots and blues, folk, rock, rap and spoken word to address the frustrations of social injustice and common life struggles.
His background in theater adds to his lyrical storytelling, which is pronounced in his songs God’s Gonna Make Things Over about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Welcome to My World, and Got Your Letter In My Pocket.
A multi-talented musician and self-taught Renaissance man, Davis sings, plays six- and 12-string guitar, five-string banjo, harmonica and didgeridoo.
He performs around the world and everywhere he goes, he uses music to help bring people together.
Beyond sharing his singing and songwriting, he uses music to turn strangers into friends.
Davis strives to build that connection with audiences outside of performance theatres as well.
In addition to his public performance on Feb. 22, Davis is also booked as part of Linamar for the Performing Arts. Students in Grades 5 and 6 have the opportunity to see this incredible artist perform live.
Tickets to Guy Davis are $30 for adults, $28 for patrons over 60 years old and $25 for those under 30 years old.
Tickets to this performance are also available for Sliding Scale pricing, offered at $20 or $10 each.
