Two Brampton teens have been charged after a routine stop for an alleged speeding violation uncovered a gun and drugs in the vehicle.
On Sept. 6 at about 12:15am a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a Mercedes that was allegedly speeding on Highway 6 near Stone Road and located suspected marijuana in the vehicle.
The driver and two passengers were arrested and during the search, a firearm was located under the driver’s seat, police say.
The investigation also revealed the driver and one of the passengers were not to be together as a condition after being released from a previous charge.
A 17-year-old male from Brampton has been charged with possession of marijuana under 30g, transporting a firearm in a careless manner, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowingly occupying a vehicle that contained a firearm, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
An 18-year-old male from Brampton is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.
Both were to appear at a bail hearing on Sept. 6 in Guelph.
