Guelph man charged in Dec. 25 theft of car with child inside

Police have now charged a man in connection with the Christmas Day theft of a car with a child in the back seat.

On Jan. 9 OPP officials announced that Bradley Arnold Jordan, 28, of Guelph, is charged with theft of motor vehicle, possession of stolen property (over $5,000), dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to comply with a recognizance.

On Dec. 25 at 7pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a vehicle theft and possible kidnapping at the Esso station on St. David Street North in Fergus.

Police say a woman was in the store when someone stole her unlocked, running vehicle with her child still in it. Shortly thereafter, police located the car abandoned on Highway 6 near Sideroad 19. The child was still in the vehicle and unharmed.

The OPP released photos of a suspect, which police say helped identify the accused.

“Wellington County OPP would like to thank the citizens who assisted in this investigation,” police stated in a Jan. 9 press release.
