Guelph Little Theatre staging I’ll Be Back Before Midnight

GUELPH – If you like spine-tingling stories with a twist, then Guelph Little Theatre (GLT) has just the show for you.

Peter Colley’s comically dark thriller I’ll Be Back Before Midnight opens the season on Oct. 20.

Veteran producer Pamela Niesiobedzki-Curtis has the perfect team to create this nerve jangling psychological thriller. Jim Hoare’s eerie set lighted with creepy ingenuity by Peter Busby is deceptively ordinary. This 1979 run down farmhouse hides intriuging surprises and seems to have a life of its own. Alex Kanarek’s sinister sound effects pervade the space.

“The attention to detail and the ingenious direction by Stephen Sherry will have you on the edge of your seat from the moment you walk into the theatre,” GLT officials state.

The story centers on a young couple. Jan (Ashley Healy), a neurotic wife has just been discharged from a mental establishment after suffering a nervous breakdown. In spite of her continued anxiety, her husband Greg (Quaid Lale) has rented this farmhouse for her recovery period. Jan’s hopes for working on their marriage are dashed when she learns that Greg’s manipulative sister Laura (Alexandra Porter) will be coming to stay with them. Laura has plans of her own in regards to renewing relationships with Greg and the triangle that was at the heart of the breakdown is re-established.

The incorrigible stories and wick laugh of odd, black-humoured farmer George (Rob Free)  add to the tension.

I’ll Be Back Before Midnight runs Oct. 20 to 30, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.
