Guelph Hydro Electric Systems Inc. (GHESI) will host two public information sessions on its proposed merger with Horizon Utilities Corporation next week.
The sessions will be held on June 19 at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre, corner of Stone Road and Gordon Streets, from 2 to 4pm and 6.30 to 8.30pm.
Everyone is invited to learn more about the proposed merger, to ask questions and express their views.
“We hope as many people as possible will be able to join us and discuss the issues.”’ said Art Stokman, president of GHESI.
The meetings are part of a public information process that includes a meeting of Guelph city council on June 23. At that meeting, council will hear delegations responding to the merger recommendation it received from the utility on May 26.
Council is expected to make a decision on the merger at its July 21 meeting.
GHESI and Horizon have been in discussions for almost a year, based on a memorandum of understanding between the two developed in June 2007.
On June 19, GHESI will also co-host a breakfast meeting with the Guelph Chamber of Commerce at the Ramada, for its large industrial and commercial customers to learn more about the rationale and implications of the proposed merger.
