GUELPH – It’s National Adoption Week, March 18 to 24, and to mark the occassion, PetSmart Charities and the Guelph Humane Society are partnering to bring adoptable pets to the Guelph store, and hopefully to their forever families.
The Guelph Humane Society invites pet lovers to the PetSmart store at 183 Silvercreek Parkway in Guelph to view some of the cats available for adoption.
The adoption team will be on site Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3pm to 7pm and on Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
They can answer questions, introduce the cats, go over your application, and you can walk away a pet owner.
Only cats will be in the store, but GHS has almost 100 dogs, cats, and other animals at its facility that are also ready to adopt.
To view all available pets for adoption, please visit the GHS website at guelphhumane.ca.
“It’s a great way to get the animals in the community and meet people,” said director of communications and community engagement Jane Dawkins.
“GHS currently has 92 animals in care, our goal is to find new homes and happy tails for as many animals as possible through this event.”
“PetSmart Charities of Canada National Adoption Week can be the perfect chance to give a pet in need what they need most – people to love,” said Heidi Marston, director of pet placement at PetSmart Charities of Canada.
“With so many shelters across the nation struggling to keep pace with the number of animals in need of care, adopting a new pet makes an impact on the health of your community, too.”
PetSmart Charities of Canada National Adoption Week is a special time during the year when PetSmart stores feature adoptable pets to meet and cuddle in spacious areas, and staff and volunteers are on-hand to make introductions and answer questions.
Potential pet parents can also learn about the products and services they’ll need for the best possible start with their new family members.
Kittens under six months cost $275; aged six months to seven years cost $150 and eight and older are $75.
All GHS animals are vaccinated, spayed or neutered and have been thoroughly checked by a veterinarian.
“We are proud to partner with PetSmart Charities of Canada and our local PetSmart Silvercreek store this National Adoption Week,” added Dawkins.
