BRUCEDALE – Lower than expected tenders have provided a savings of $88,493 on the replacement of a bridge on Guelph-Eramosa Township Road 3.
On March 4, council approved a recommendation from public works director Harry Niemi to accept the lowest of 10 bids for the project.
Roubos Farm Services will replace the bridge for $431,507 including HST.
The township had estimated $520,000 for the project in the 2019 capital budget.
The lower cost means that $88,493 will be available in bridge reserves for other projects. Other bids ranged up to $894,766.
Niemi said the township had deferred the project in 2018 and benefitted from getting the tender out early for 2019.
