BRUCEDALE – Guelph-Eramosa Township will continue its tradition of assistance for the Rockwood Farmers’ Parade of Lights, which will take place on Dec. 12 this year.
At their Oct. 7 meeting, councillors approved the use of public works staff time to help coordinate the event.
“This is bringing thousands of people into the community, so anything we can do to support it is a good thing,” said Mayor Chris White.
Public works director Harry Niemi said staff will obtain approvals to close Highway 7 and Wellington Road 27, arrange insurance coverage, host an organizational meeting and install advance signage, detour and road closed signs, arrow boards, barricades and traffic barrels. He said the cost is relatively minor, just over 100 hours of staff time and 65 hours of equipment time needed.
