Guelph-Eramosa reduces speed limit on three roads

Three roads in Guelph-Eramosa Township now have reduced speed limits.  The recommendation came from director of public works Harry Niemi at the Nov. 7 council meeting.

He explained the public works department is continually reviewing roads in the township.

“Through this ongoing review we’ve identified a couple of areas where we’re recommending that the speed limits be reduced based on road geometry, traffic volumes and conditions of adjoining roads,” he said.

Council approved the speed limit reductions on:

– Whitelaw Road from Wellington Road 124 south to Niska Road, reduced to 60 kilometres per hour from 80km/h;

– Speedvale Avenue from Guelph city limits west to Wellington Road 32, reduced to 60km/h from 80km/h; and

– Speedvale Avenue from Wellington Road 32 west to Woolwich Townline, reduced to 70km/h from 80km/h.
