Guelph-Eramosa Township has issued a Level 2 water use restriction.
Announced on July 23 in a press release, township officials say the restrictions are being put in place “due to increased demand for municipal water because of hot, dry weather conditions” which have caused “stress” to the township’s water system
“In order to ensure that there are sufficient water reserves for fire protection in the event of an emergency, the township is requiring that residents and business owners conserve water and limit outdoor water use at this time,” the press release stated.
“The township would like to remind residents that the washing of vehicles and the use of night-time automatic sprinklers is not permitted during a Level 2 water use restriction.” Also, new lawn permits cannot be issued during such a restriction.
Lawn watering and garden watering are regulated uses during a Level 2 water use restriction. Municipal address numbers will determine the day of the week lawn watering and garden watering are permitted. All watering, regardless of day, must take place between 7 and 9am and/or 7 and 9pm.
More information on the water use restrictions can be found on the township website, at www.get.on.ca.
Township officials say staff will continue to monitor system levels and will keep residents and business owners informed if there are changes to the current Level 2 water use.
